Thoracic Surgery

Thoracic surgery is a specialty of medicine that diagnoses and treats diseases of organs other than the breast and heart in the abdomen, starting with the throat and extending to the upper part of the abdomen. Congenital deformations in the thorax, tumor formations, stenosis and obstructions in the respiratory tract, tumors and congenital or later developed diseases of the lungs, diaphragm and esophagus that fall within the field of surgery are diagnosed, treated and followed up by thoracic surgery clinics. Breast Surgery is a different field from Thoracic Surgery, it is a separate branch where the risk of breast cancer is evaluated and treatment options are planned according to the findings of the tests. The treatment of benign breast masses, infections and breast pain is also within the scope of breast surgery and does not fall within the specialty of thoracic surgery clinics. Removal of lung, trachea, esophagus, mediastinum tumor cells, treatment of esophageal strictures with stenting, treatment of thoracic cage problems caused by congenital or subsequent trauma with the NUSS technique, treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis by removing the infected lung surface, volume reduction surgeries in emphysema patients, treatment of hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) diseases with the EPS method, surgeries for lung punctures and emergency thoracic injury interventions are performed.
